Javelina Canyon Hiking Trail – South Mountain

Javelina Canyon is a quick little escape that takes you away from the city to atop South Mountain. It’s a good trail for those days when you need to escape and clear your head, but you don’t have a lot of time.
Javelina Canyon is a moderate 1.7 miles Phoenix hiking trail. The beginning elevation is 1240 feet and the end is 1705 feet, so therefore you are only progressing up 465 feet of the mountain, that’s not bad!
The climb is very gradual and you hardly notice you are accelerating up the mountain as the clear-cut hiking trail curves around the rising mountain heaps.
With every turn you’ll take in the beauty of inspiring new views of South Mountain and leave the bustling city of Phoenix behind you. Deeper and deeper you roam into this trail feeling as if you are in your own world walking between the clusters of mountains.
Once at the top it overlooks other numerous trail and connects to Mormon and Ridgeline hiking trails.

If you’re feeling like you want to get more of a hike on, then you can continue on Ridgeline Trail to Beverly Canyon, which will take you back to the parking lot.
