Know Your Hiking Limits
The smartest thing any Phoenix hiker can do…is to know their hiking limits. While pushing yourself out of the comfort zone is a good thing, you don’t want to push too far when out on the trails. Your gut instinct is usually right and if you’re not feeling good about something…than that’s likely your hiking limit.
Remember that as far as you’ve hiked in…you also have to hike the same amount out. This is especially true when hiking with kids. You don’t want to go too far out and then find yourself exhausted having to hike back to the trailhead.
Also, it’s important to remember not to run out of water or energy before you’ve reached the end of the trail. The best piece of advice is to turn around and head back, once half your water is gone.
